About Ruff World Training, LLC

Mission Statement: Through the daily operations of Ruff World Training, LLC, I will use my knowledge as a certified professional dog trainer and my passion for all things canine to inspire, educate, and guide owners to a greater understanding of their dogs, to improve the communication between both, and to provide better quality of life care for their pets.
Ruff World Training, LLC is owned and operated by Trudy Garvey, CPDT-KA. Trudy Garvey's professional training qualifications include:
Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Trudy Garvey has a strong background in training dogs that began in the search and rescue (SAR) world where the dog training can literally mean life or death for the humans. Trudy started her dog training career in 2010 when she joined a local volunteer canine-specialized search and rescue (SAR) team and started two of her dogs in the trailing discipline. She has since gone on to certify both dogs in trailing and Land HRD (cadaver).
During the process of working with her own dogs, she discovered a passion for training dogs and began to instruct others. She currently teaches a variety of classes including Puppy, Obedience, Scent Work, Canine Good Citizen and Wounded Game Tracking. Trudy worked at a local boarding and doggie daycare facility for two and a half years and gained valuable knowledge of dog behavior by observing dogs on a daily basis during that time period. With the knowledge gained from training others plus numerous hours spent on independent study, both real world and book, Trudy successfully passed the exam to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) in the fall of 2016. To maintain her rating as a CPDT-KA, Trudy must achieve 12 Continuing Education credits per year so she will always be building on her knowledge of dogs and their behavior.
The training philosophy at Ruff World is to "Train the dog that is in front of you" as every dog is different. Reward-based methods are always the number one choice for training. The instruction provided is based on the needs of the individual dog and owner to strengthen the human/dog bond. We teach dogs and people how to happily live together!
